Morris Chestnut and his wife of three decades, Pamela turned heads at the 82nd Golden Globes, serving up a dose of Hollywood glamour with a touch of African elegance.

Pamela, a vision in black velvet, stole the show in a stunning creation by Nigerian designer Erica Moore. The sultry mermaid dress showcased Moore’s exquisite craftsmanship on the global stage.

Pamela was a paragon with flawlessly glowing skin, a sleek ponytail, and a subtle facebeat. She had three (3) ear piercings clad in gem studs matching her resplendent clutch. See below:

Morris, looking dapper as ever, opted for a custom look from GRAY. The striking orange suit with a contrasting black button was elegantly styled with a pair of black shoes. Styled by J.Bolin, Morris layered his suit with a matching shirt and tie. The vibrant hue perfectly complemented his complexion, showcasing the power of Melanin.

The handsome heartthrob once again proved that age is just a number, showcasing his timeless style and undeniable charm.

Pamela Chestnut, never one to be outdone, turned heads in her asymmetrical neckline outfit paired with matching Opera gloves.

The outfit is perfectly complemented by Morris’ black blazer button and shoes. The couple’s decision to embrace Nigerian fashion on this global stage is a powerful testament to the country’s burgeoning design talent.

Erica Moore, known for its bold colours, intricate embellishments, and luxurious fabrics, has become a favourite among celebrities seeking statement pieces. The Chestnuts’ red carpet moment is sure to put the spotlight on the brand’s exquisite craftsmanship and elevate the brand’s international profile.

Married since 1995, Morris and Pamela Chestnut’s red carpet appearance is a celebration of Black love and excellence. Their confident and stylish presence is an inspiration to couples everywhere, a testament to the growing influence of African fashion on the international scene.

The idea of doing a big chop can be thrilling yet nerve-wracking. Cutting off most of your hair represents a fresh start, a bold statement, and, for many, a liberating moment. But let’s face it—the commitment can feel daunting. What if you’re not ready to go full-on big chop just yet?

Enter the pixie cut: a chic, trendy, and less drastic option that’s perfect for testing the waters.

Why a Pixie Cut is the Perfect First Step

A pixie cut is essentially a middle ground between your current hairstyle and the big chop. It’s short enough to give you that transformative feeling, but still versatile enough to style in multiple ways.

Most importantly, it’s reversible. If you decide the super-short look isn’t for you, growing out a pixie cut is far less intimidating than starting over from a big chop. Plus, you can even leave your hair in and get a pixie wig or extensions.

A post shared by Nneka Ibeabuchi. (@africanjawn)

Before we head out, let’s talk about how flattering pixie cuts are. With their ability to highlight your facial structure—cheekbones, jawline, and all—pixie cuts are a great way to experiment with a bold new look.

Trend Alert: Pixie Cuts Are Having a Moment

All the it-girls and celebs are embracing the pixie cut. From Ayra Starr’s edgy textured pixie to Kim Oprah’s sleek and chic version, the cut is undeniably on-trend.

Benefits of a Pixie Cut

  1. Low Maintenance: Short hair means less time styling and fewer products, which can be a lifesaver if you’re always on the go.
  2. Face-Framing Perfection: A pixie cut draws attention to your facial features and can even make your face appear more defined.
  3. Room to Experiment: It’s a great way to try new hair colours or textures without a long-term commitment.
  4. Boosts Confidence: There’s something undeniably empowering about rocking a short hairstyle. It’s bold, unapologetic, and completely you.

How to Decide if a Pixie Cut is Right for You

If you’re on the fence, consider these questions:

  • Are you looking for a low-maintenance yet stylish look?
  • Do you want to experiment with shorter hair without committing to a big chop?
  • Are you ready to embrace a bold, face-framing hairstyle?

If you answered yes to any of these, the pixie cut might just be the perfect hairstyle for your next salon visit.

Rotimi, a picture of elegance, embodies the timeless sophistication of the Nigerian agbada. Tailored to perfection by ATAFO, the agbada’s rich folds drape nicely around him, creating a powerful silhouette. Their son, Seven Adeoluwa Akinosho mirroring his father’s poise, complements the look in a miniature agbada of his own.

Vanessa, meanwhile, stuns in a show-stopping boubou and bodycon set from Wanni Fuga‘s SS25 Collection. The vibrant ensemble, a perfect blend of tradition and contemporary style, flatters her form with its bold silhouette and exquisite craftsmanship.

Their daughter, Imani Enioluwa Akinosho a vision of pure joy, echoes her mother’s elegance in a matching outfit, showcasing the heartwarming connection between the two.

Rotimi and Vanessa’s family pictures transcend the realm of fashion; they offer a powerful narrative of love, family, and cultural connection. Their decision to adorn themselves in Nigerian labels is a subtle yet powerful tribute to their heritage, a reminder of the roots that ground them.

This love story beautifully weaves together the threads of intercontinental glamour and African heritage, a testament to the universality of love and the enduring power of tradition. More than photos, these frozen moments celebrate cultural pride with declarations of love reverberating from Hollywood to Tanzania and Nigeria. The Akinoshos have us all swooning again.

On the evening of December 12, 2024, Clive Christian Perfume, a globally celebrated British fragrance house, hosted an exclusive launch event at Alara Lagos. The event showcased the brand’s heritage of opulence, blending history, artistry, and sensory experiences to create a truly memorable experience for guests.

Arriving at the chic venue, Lagos’s tastemakers were welcomed with fine cocktails and the soulful tunes of a live DJ, creating an atmosphere of refined glamour. Alara staff kicked off the event with a warm welcome, reflecting their pride in hosting Clive Christian.

Speaking at the launch, Alara’s representative, Imisi, remarked,

This partnership underscores Alara’s mission to bring global luxury experiences to our clientele. Clive Christian represents the pinnacle of perfumery, and we are delighted to share this with our audience. This is a milestone event, celebrating a brand that embodies artistry and luxury.

Clive Christian Perfume boasts a storied history, tracing its roots to the Crown Perfumery Company, which was founded in 1872 and became renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and iconic crown stopper, originally granted by Queen Victoria.

Earlier in the evening, Clive Christian’s representative, Tate Torongo, Regional Director of the UK, Africa & Europe, delivered a keynote address, sharing insights into the evolution of the brand. He recounted how its legacy extends even further back, to 1839, when the foundation for modern perfumery was laid by its predecessor, setting the stage for the artistry the brand continues to perfect today.

In his remarks, Torongo said,

Our perfumes are a reflection of timeless self-expression. From our early beginnings in 1839 to the innovation that revitalized the Crown Perfumery Company in 1872, Clive Christian has consistently crafted masterpieces from the rarest and most exquisite ingredients. Tonight, we honor this legacy by inviting you to experience these extraordinary creations firsthand.

Tanya Rupani, Clive Christian’s Luxury Brand Consultant, further elaborated on the brand’s significance, stating,

Luxury brands have an art of storytelling unfolding across all customer touchpoints, and I like to bridge that vision and reality. Clive Christian has so much heritage to build on but also embraces a very modern approach. This brand isn’t afraid to experiment and collaborate, which already demonstrates a younger mindset, while carrying forward an extraordinary legacy.

Throughout the evening, attendees immersed themselves in an exploration of the brand’s key collections, including the Original Collection, launched in 1999 as a tribute to classic perfumery, and the Crown Collection, which reimagines the scents that defined the company’s Victorian heritage. Other collections featured included the Private Collection, capturing deeply personal narratives through scent; the Noble Collection, inspired by art, architecture, and culture; and the Addictive Arts, which pushes boundaries with groundbreaking formulations.

Guests were treated to scent demonstrations that brought the stories of these fragrances to life. Many remarked on the luxurious use of rare ingredients, such as 50-year-aged Indian sandalwood and damask rose, which ensure every Clive Christian perfume stands apart for its complexity and elegance. Tanya Rupani noted,

This blend of storytelling, heritage, and modernity positions Clive Christian as a brand that invites connoisseurs to experience scents not just as perfumes, but as works of art designed for individuality.

One guest described the event as

a journey through history, heritage, and the artistry of perfumery—an unforgettable experience of British luxury brought to Lagos.

The first time Adanna Madueke watched a young girl declare, “I’ll never relax my hair again,” she felt the magnitude of her work extend beyond tutorials and tips—it was about rewriting narratives. Adanna is not just a digital creator; she’s a filmmaker uncovering layers of African heritage and a natural hair advocate helping women embrace their roots, quite literally. Her journey has evolved into a movement, inspiring confidence and pride in natural hair and culture.

Growing up, Adanna faced her own challenges, grappling with racial discrimination and enduring painful myths surrounding natural hair. These experiences fuelled her journey, one that has blossomed into a global movement. Through her engaging videos and unfiltered content, she has built a community that empowers women to see their hair not just as strands but as a powerful symbol of identity, pride, and culture.

Adanna’s passion extends far beyond the digital space. Through her initiative, “Crown Revival,” she teaches young girls how to care for their natural hair while boosting their confidence and celebrating their natural beauty. Her documentary, “Our African Hairitage,” goes even deeper, taking viewers on an immersive journey across Africa to explore the emotional and cultural ties Africans have with their hair, while dismantling long-held stereotypes.

Her work is a celebration of authenticity and a bold reminder that beauty isn’t about fitting in—it’s about embracing who we truly are.

In this feature, Adanna dives into her creative journey, shares the compelling stories behind her projects, and her vision for the future of natural hair care.

***

Hey Adanna, how are you doing today?

I’m great, thank you so much! It’s always exciting to share my journey, and I’m thrilled to be here.

We’re happy to have you here also. Let’s talk about “Crown Revival’ which is such a great initiative. What motivated you to create this project?

Thank you! I strongly believe in the saying, “Catch them young.” Every young girl should know how to care for her natural hair and see it as a source of pride. That’s what the Crown Revival is all about—going into schools and teaching young girls the basics of natural hair care, like moisturising, protective styling, and detangling.

We also provide them with natural hair starter kits to kickstart their journey, which include products tailored to their hair needs. It’s not just about teaching them to care for their hair; it’s about instilling confidence in them and helping them embrace their natural beauty.

Working with young girls through your outreach programmes must be so rewarding. Can you share a moment that really touched you and made you feel proud?

Oh I have several moments of these. One of the heartwarming moments was during our maiden Crown Revival project when a young girl confidently declared, “I’m never relaxing my hair again because natural hair is our crown as Africans.” Her words brought tears to my eyes because that’s the essence of everything I’m trying to achieve.

Seeing these girls embrace their hair and heritage with pride reminds me why I started this journey. It’s about creating lasting impact, one girl at a time.

With your vibrant online community, you’ve seen firsthand how powerful these connections can be. What’s one story or interaction that really stood out to you?

One of the most touching experiences is meeting people in person who share how I’ve helped them fall in love with their hair and rediscover the joy of styling it. It’s incredibly humbling to know that my work has had such a positive impact on their lives.

I’ve also received heartfelt emails from individuals battling hair loss due to cancer or alopecia, telling me how my content has given them confidence and a renewed sense of self. These moments remind me of the deeper purpose behind what I do—it’s about empowering people to embrace their beauty, no matter their circumstances. These connections inspire me every day to continue this journey.

Walk us through your documentary, “Our African Hairitage,” was there a moment during that trip that shifted the way you view your own relationship with your hair and heritage?

Despite Africa being one continent, it’s fascinating to see how our diverse experiences with slavery and colonization have uniquely shaped our relationship with natural hair. Traveling through Nigeria, Kenya, and Senegal for the documentary was truly eye-opening. It was heartbreaking to witness how the lack of love and care for natural hair varies from one country to another, with some facing more challenges than others. Yet, this reality reignited my passion to celebrate and protect our hair.

One story that deeply resonated with me was from a woman I met in Senegal named Ko. She shared how she was pressured into relaxing her natural hair at a salon, a moment that deeply impacted her. Hearing her experience made me reflect on how fortunate I’ve been to embrace my hair fully and how vital it is to fight for this freedom—not just for myself, but for everyone.

So many people are taking the leap to go natural these days, but it can come with challenges. What do you think are the biggest challenges people face when starting their natural hair journey?

I think the biggest challenge is the misconception that natural hair is hard to manage, which is completely untrue. Unfortunately, some hair salons and stylists fuel this myth. I’ve heard stories of stylists convincing women that their protective styles won’t look good unless they relax or straighten their hair. Others outright refuse to work on natural hair, calling it ‘too difficult.’

Another challenge is the lack of access to quality hair products, especially in parts of Africa, which makes proper hair care much harder. For me, the root of these issues often comes down to a lack of knowledge. Imagine growing up without learning how to care for your hair—it’s no surprise that many grow to associate natural hair with pain or difficulty.

I still remember visiting Kenya, expecting to learn about local hair products and techniques, only to find a stylist with just water and a blow dryer. Everyone’s hair was dry, and the process of combing through it was painful. In such instances, it’s easy to see how people grow to dislike their hair.

That’s why education is so important, which is at the heart of our Crown Revival initiative. We go into schools to teach young girls how to care for their hair, providing them with the tools and products they need to succeed. My mission is to change the narrative and make the natural hair journey easier and more joyful for everyone.

There are still a lot of myths about natural hair out there. What’s one misconception you wish more people understood?

That natural hair is hard to take care of! It’s really not. All it takes is the right products, a simple routine, and a little patience.

For anyone just starting out, what’s one tip you swear by when it comes to maintaining healthy natural hair?

Moisture, moisture, moisture! Hydration is everything when it comes to healthy natural hair. Keep your hair moisturised by regularly spritzing it with water and sealing it with natural oils or butters—trust me, your hair will thank you!

Another tip: keep it simple. There’s no need for all the extra ‘gbo gbo ti gbo’ that can overwhelm you. A straightforward hydration and moisture routine is all our hair truly craves. Less is more!

If you could give your hair an African name, what would it be and why?

If I could give my hair an African name, it would be “Nkem” (Igbo for “Mine”). To me, this name symbolises ownership, pride, and personal identity. My hair is a reflection of my heritage, my journey, and my self-expression—something that belongs to me in its entirety.

Giving it a name like Nkem reinforces the deep connection I have with it and reminds me that my natural hair is not just a style but a part of who I am. It’s a celebration of embracing what’s truly mine.

What’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects or dreams you’re working towards that you can share with us?

So much is in the works! We’re planning to expand ‘Our African Hairitage’ and ‘Crown Revival’ to more countries, spreading the message of love and care for our natural hair. I also want to partner with governments and hair care brands to tackle health issues related to hair, like alopecia and hair loss due to cancer treatments.

“Hello beautiful people!” You know when Mo Abudu kicks off her Instagram posts like this, with her signature greeting, you know something exciting is coming—be it fabulous news or stunning photos of herself. And this time, it’s the latter!

Over the weekend, the 60-year-old media mogul stepped out for a friend’s birthday party, and she didn’t hold back on the glam. She rocked a stunning two-piece look: hand-beaded silver-stoned shorts paired with a sleek black corset top.

To top it off, Mo added silver accessories, a sparkling black-and-silver purse, and glittery heeled pumps that tied the whole outfit together. Let’s just say she was giving major “live, love, and sparkle” energy—and we loved every bit of it.

Captioning her post with the perfect holiday vibe, she wrote: “It’s Christmas! Live, love, laugh, and sparkle your way through the day. I’m doing just that!”

Christmas is in the air, and so is the festive cheer from “Christmas In Lagos,” Jade Osiberu’s new movie, which premiered today on Prime Video. But can we talk about the stunning new photos of the cast that Jade just posted on her Instagram page? The answer is yes—absolutely yes! You know we love everything style and fabulous, so let’s dive in.

The photos are giving fine, they’re giving style, they’re giving traditional bridal chic, they’re giving owambe vibes, and they’re serving colour in all its glory. For this shoot, Jade herself stepped out from behind the camera to join the cast, and she understood the assignment. Dressed in a pink and green lace dress with cascading drapes and a matching pink gele, she looked every bit regal and befitting of her role as producer.

The cast, including Teniola Aladese, Shaffy Bello, Richard MofeDamijo, Angel Anosike, Rayxia Ojo, Shalom C. Obiago, Waje, Wale Ojo, Ladipoe, Tris Udeh, and Obinna Okenwa, stunned in coordinating pink and green outfits. Their looks were elevated with matching caps and gele, for that traditional elegance.

We’re still swooning over the glamorous looks from the “Christmas in Lagos” premiere, and now this photoshoot? Jade and the cast are not letting up on the style moments.

2024 has been a landmark year for MAC Cosmetics, marked by collaborations that brought beauty and fashion together in unparalleled ways. As a driving force behind innovative and sustainable practices, MAC partnered with leading designers and iconic events, cementing its role as a pioneer in artistry and inclusivity.

The series of partnerships began with the Lagos Canvas event on September 3. Pioneered by Mo Abudu, the event celebrated Lagos’s dynamic culture through art, music, food, and fashion. MAC provided luminous, skin-focused makeup looks, complementing the models’ natural features and adding a refined touch to the vibrant runway presentation.

Later in the month, MAC joined forces with Banke Kuku to unveil her highly anticipated SS25 Oceans Collection. The collaboration began with a two-day shoot on September 30 at La Campagne Tropicana, captured by renowned photographer Kelechi Amadiobi.

It was followed by a virtual press conference with leading publications on October 11 during which Banke Kuku shared her vision for the collection. The pinnacle of this partnership was the Oceans Front Row event on October 18 at the Royal Box in Victoria Island. MAC’s artistry brought the ocean-inspired designs to life, captivating an exclusive audience that included influential figures like Mo Abudu, Toke Makinwa, and Her Excellency Ambassador Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq.

On October 27, MAC took center stage at two prominent SS25 collections, Emmy Kasbit’s and Imad Eduso, showcasing versatility in bringing distinct creative visions to life. At Emmy Kasbit’s runway, MAC’s daring yet refined makeup looks elevated the collection’s narrative of modern tailoring, enhancing the powerful impact of each design. Simultaneously, MAC partnered with Imad Eduso, where the butterfly-inspired collection symbolizing faith, resilience, and renewal was elevated.

The celebration of artistry continued into November with partnerships that spotlighted iconic designers Tiffany Amber on November 2 and Jewel by Lisa on November 9. For both events, the MAC Cosmetics team tailored makeup looks to enhance the distinct styles and creative expressions of these celebrated designers.

MAC’s partnership with Lanre Da Silva also showcased its expertise during the SS25 Eternal Glamour women’s collection on November 17. The collection, a true celebration of bold designs and the brilliance of Nigeria’s creative industry, was enhanced by MAC’s artistry, which infused each look with glamour and elegance.

As MAC’s final contribution to the series of collaborations, their partnership with Future Face Africa by Elizabeth Isiorho, exemplified the brand’s commitment to nurturing young African models and propeling them onto global stages. MAC Cosmetics was pivotal during this year’s showcase, with looks that emphasized individuality and the expressive aspirations of the next generation.

Throughout 2024, MAC Cosmetics demonstrated a thoughtful approach to collaboration, celebrating artistry while fostering meaningful connections between beauty, fashion, and sustainability. These partnerships created opportunities to explore diverse creative perspectives, spotlighting the power of makeup as a form of expression that enhances storytelling.

By working alongside visionary designers and cultural events, MAC continues to inspire innovation, cultivate inclusivity, and contribute to conversations shaping the future of beauty and fashion.

3 Lessons from Adaeze’s Pro Style

  1. Borrow a Hue: Select a single colour from your partner’s outfit (a simple shirt, pants, or a bold accessory) as your style inspiration.
  2. Embrace Monochrome: Build your look around that chosen colour. You can even play with different shades and textures within the same colour palette to add depth and dimension.
  3. Elevate Your Look: Channel Adaeze’s elegant approach with classic red lipstick and a matching pair of statement pumps. This timeless duo injects a touch of playful allure and exudes confidence. The irresistible touch of a bright hue like red can elevate your monochromatic ensemble.

Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to experiment! Matchy-matchy is not the only way to achieve chromatic harmony. Explore complementary colour palettes or play with patterns within the same colour family for a more modern twist.

It’s Tems’ final shows of the year in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and as always, the superstar showed up looking stunning.

Rocking two gliterring outfits for both shows, the first look is a chic jumpsuit with gloves, featuring a bralette with a halter neckline. The second is a black long-sleeve gown, also shimmering in glitter. Each outfit perfectly accentuates and flatters her figure beautifully.

Of course, her look isn’t complete without her signature makeup, featruing high slanted eyebrows and sultry eyes.  Her cornrow braids added the perfect finishing touch, and the accessories she chose made just as much of a statement as the outfits themselves.

“Last shows of the year in Saudi & Dubai,” she shared in her caption.

Tems also recently dropped her music video for “Get It Right” featuring Asake, adding to her wrap-up for the year.

A week after the sashing ceremony introduced the 45 contestants for the 45th Miss Nigeria pageant, the competition has taken an emotional and exciting turn. With the stakes growing higher, only 20 semifinalists remain in the race for the crown, setting the stage for an intense journey ahead.

The recent elimination round was a rollercoaster of emotions. Tears of joy and heartbreak flowed as some contestants advanced while others saw their dreams put on hold. Even Rita Dominic, the Head of Queen Search, was visibly moved, holding back tears as she addressed the young women who have poured their hearts into this transformative journey.

The countdown to the Miss Nigeria 2024 crown is officially on, and this year, there’s an exciting twist. For the first time, the public will play a pivotal role in the competition. Audience votes will secure one contestant a guaranteed spot in the Top 10, giving Nigerians the power to champion their favourites all the way to the finals.

Mark your calendars for the grand finale on Tuesday, 19th December 2024, at the Royal Box Event Centre (Mikano Building), Victoria Island

At 34 years old, Angélique Angarni-Filopon has made history as the first ever contestant over the age of 30 to win the Miss France crown. Her win comes after the pageant’s rules were changed in 2022 to allow women over 24, as well as married women and mothers, to compete.

At the Miss France pageant, which took place on Saturday, December 14, the flight attendant from Martinique shattered sterotypes and proved that age is no barrier to dreams

Angélique’s journey to this moment is as compelling as her historic win. Back in 2011, she was a 20-year-old first runner-up in the Miss Martinique competition. Thirteen years later, she returned to the Miss France stage with a renewed determination ready to defy societal expectations and claim the title.

Speaking on her win, Angélique shared,

In 2011, I was a 20-year-old first runner-up in the Miss Martinique competition. Today, at 34, I stand before you representing Martinique, its diaspora, and all the women who’ve ever been told it’s too late.

This year’s Miss France pageant was more than just about beauty; it was a celebration of inclusivity and diversity like never before. Over 30 contestants from various fields, including doctors and dentists, competed in rounds that showcased swimsuits, regional costumes, and elegant ballgowns.

Her win also aligns with a broader trend in global pageantry. Just over the weekend, Nwajagu Samuel Chinemerem became the first Nigerian and African to win the Mister International title. Together, these milestones highlight a growing movement toward greater representation and inclusivity.

A leading personal care brand, NIVEA has launched the SABI Personal Hygiene Drive, an initiative designed to educate high school students on the importance of personal hygiene, specifically focusing on underarm care and the use of deodorants.

This campaign aims to empower teenagers from 13 years to 18 years with the knowledge and tools to maintain proper hygiene while promoting NIVEA’s Dry Impact and Dry Comfort Roll-on products as an effective solution for daily care.

With over 570 schools across Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja participating in the program, the NIVEA SABI Personal Hygiene Drive seeks to reach approximately 190,000 students and teachers. The campaign is focused on hygiene education, where child educators and the trained team visit schools to deliver engaging lessons using the SABI Workbook, a tool designed to teach students the science behind body odour, effective hygiene practices, and the role of deodorants in everyday personal care.

The transition into adolescence can be a challenging period, especially when it comes to understanding the importance of personal hygiene. Puberty brings about changes in the body that can cause discomfort and confusion. This is why NIVEA is committed to providing accurate, age-appropriate information that resonates with young people, many of whom are navigating these changes for the first time.

Speaking on the campaign, the Marketing Manager disclosed that,

The SABI initiative emphasizes the need for proper underarm hygiene, a critical yet often overlooked aspect of personal care. Through engaging discussions, question and answer sessions, and fun games, students are encouraged to incorporate NIVEA’s roll-on deodorants into their daily routines as a simple and effective solution.

He added that,  By presenting the NIVEA 25ml SABI roll-on as an affordable option, NIVEA also addresses the economic challenges that many teenagers face, making it the perfect product for this demographic. By tapping into the lives of adolescents at this crucial stage of their personal hygiene journey, NIVEA aims to build long-lasting relationships with young consumers. The SABI Personal Hygiene Drive not only positions NIVEA as a trusted brand for personal care but also strengthens its credibility as a company that understands and addresses the unique hygiene needs of young people.

The brand manager submitted that students across the participating schools will have the opportunity to join the SABI Tribe, a community where they can continue to engage with NIVEA, receive rewards for maintaining excellent hygiene, and participate in fun activities that reinforce healthy habits.

Additionally, the drive featured items such as stickers, mirrors, and notice boards to keep the conversation going in school environments.

As part of the activation, NIVEA presented the neatest students with a “SABI Star Award” and rewarded the most engaging students in each school. These rewards encourage students to consistently maintain high hygiene standards while reinforcing the connection between cleanliness and self-esteem. By involving students, teachers, and school administrators in the campaign, the SABI Personal Hygiene Drive aims to create a ripple effect, fostering a culture of good hygiene practices that extends beyond the classroom.

The NIVEA SABI Personal Hygiene Drive is out to invest in the health, confidence, and well-being of teenagers by providing them with the education, tools, and affordable solutions they need. NIVEA is out to set the stage for a future where personal hygiene is embraced as a fundamental part of everyday life.

For the highly anticipated premiere of Everybody Loves Jenifa, Funke Akindele stepped out in a look that exuded sophistication, grace, and a touch of whimsy—perfectly capturing her star power. Let’s break it down.

Her fully embellished custom gown from SOMO by Somo was a statement piece featuring intricate floral embellishments in shimmering gold and green hues. The structured mini dress was a nod to haute couture.

Funke accessorized with carefully selected diamond pieces that complemented the intricate detailing of the dress without overpowering it, striking the perfect balance between glam and subtlety.

Makeup artist Peace Ibadin created a dewy and radiant look with soft contours, glowing skin, and glossy nude lips enhancing Funke Akindele’s natural beauty, while her eyes were subtly accentuated with defined lashes and shimmering shadows. Her hairstyle by Adefunkeee was sleek and sophisticated—a low bun with bangs.

Behind the cohesive and striking aesthetic was expert styling, ensuring every detail came together harmoniously.

Four-time GRAMMY nominee Doechii set the stage ablaze on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, captivating her audience with an entrancing medley of Boiled Peanuts and Denial is a River,” while making a stunning beauty statement that transcended mere aesthetics.

Doechii’s hairstylist, Malcolm Marquez, took the concept far beyond stitch braids, crafting a symbolic masterpiece. Marquez, echoing a sentiment many beauty enthusiasts share, understands the power of hair: “Hair has the power to CONNECT us to OURSELVES, but also to each other,” he said on social media.

This is for black history and black futures.

His vision manifested as one-of-a-kind interconnected stitch braids for Doechii and her dancers, Toyin Sogunro and Avonie Bell, paired with statement Gucci pieces, they were a powerful visual expression that resonated far beyond the stage.

But the performance wasn’t just about visuals. Doechii, who has spoken openly about the influence of hip-hop on her artistry, declared, “This one is for Hip Hop.” On social media, she elaborated:

I felt heavily inspired by the lineage of Hip Hop and how it contributes to who I am today. This is my first self-choreographed performance and one of the most important things I wanted to highlight was my connection to black women through Hip Hop.

With the help of hair artist @malcolm.marquez we were able to make this symbolic art performance come to life in just a short week… This is my take on the future of Hip Hop. This is blackness. This is luxury. This is history.”

Doechii’s Colbert performance went beyond entertainment; it was a celebration of heritage, culture, and artistic expression. By fusing music, movement, and meticulously crafted hair art, she delivered a performance that was as powerful as it was beautiful, leaving an indelible mark on the audience and charting a course for the future of hip-hop.

For Chidimma Adetshina, stepping onto the Miss Universe stage was a surreal, unforgettable moment. “It is actually really nice to step on that stage and just look around and be like, ‘I made it. I did that, I made it.’ It was a mind-blowing moment. I remember I walked onto the stage, prayed, and said, ‘Thank you, God, I wouldn’t have done it without you.’”

Now, Chidimma is giving us a front-row seat to her incredible journey on her brand-new YouTube channel. In her first vlog, she spills all the details about her path to becoming the first runner-up at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant and earning the Miss Universe Africa & Oceania title. From the highs to the hurdles, she’s not holding anything back—and it’s as real as it gets.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Early on, Chidimma found out about a petition to disqualify her because of her diplomatic passport. But instead of breaking down, she turned to prayer. “I prayed and told God, ‘If I ever needed you, it’s now,’” she said. And her faith came through for her in the most amazing way.

Then came the nerve-wracking interview rounds. While some contestants were deep in practice, Chidimma was battling the clock—her outfit arrived just 20 minutes before her interview. But she stayed cool and confident. Her advice in similar situations is: “Don’t overthink it. Just have a conversation. When you overthink, you sound rehearsed. Be yourself.”

In her vlog, Chidimma takes us through every unforgettable moment—from the warm welcome in Mexico to her entrance on the Miss Universe stage.

Watch her vlog below and get ready to be inspired.

While Tems‘ music is conquering hearts everywhere, did you imagine she was doing that with some native swallow & soup?

At the recent Fashion Awards presented by Pandora, the Nigerian songstress had a fun chat with The People Gallery that went beyond just fashion (although her Dilara Findikoglu creation with its cascading feathers was undeniably a showstopper).

Turns out, the Mr. Rebel singer is a bonafide pounded yam and Egusi fan!

Now, that’s a woman who knows what’s good. Tems’ love for her Nigerian culture runs deep. In fact, she told The People Gallery this is her favourite meal. It’s a good day to have pounded yam and Egusi soup, we’d be ordering ours shortly. What about you?

Do you have a favourite Naija dish? Tell us, is it Jollof rice with fried plantain? Spicy suya skewers? We want to know.

Beyond the delicious details, Tems dished out her signature beauty look (flawless melanin skin, bold brows, and glossy pout) with a perfectly tousled mane and her personal styling tips (shoes are key, people!). She hinted that a great pair of shoes could be an easy hack for getting away with the weirdest look.

What’s Tems’ favourite music now?  Find out when you watch the interview, hit the ▶ button below:

Tems completely stole the show at the 2024 British Fashion Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Not only did she light up the red carpet, but she also stepped in to accept the “British Menswear Designer of the Year” award on behalf of the fashion designer, Grace Wales Bonner.

For the big moment, Tems looked effortlessly stunning in a custom Wales Bonner black dress that screamed elegance. Taking the stage, she kept it classy and simple, saying, “I am honoured to accept this award on her behalf. I know that she would want me to express her gratitude to everyone who made this possible. Thank you so much.”

And let’s talk about that red carpet look—wow. Tems was sight to behold in a dramatic back-laced birdie gown by Dilara Findikoglu. Paired with her signature 90s-inspired makeup and a sleek, center-parted hairstyle, the look was pure perfection. Tems showe up and shut it down.

Tems, the Nigerian songstress who’s slaying the global music scene, brought her signature style to The Fashion Awards presented by Pandora! Looking like a total boss babe in her usual glam makeup (think 90s high brows, silvery eyeliner on point, and those cocoa-lined, glossy lips!), she stole the show wearing a fully feathered Dilara Findikoglu dress like a bird.

But what truly piqued our curiosity during her interview with Grazia UK? When asked about her most-used emoji, Tems gave a knowing smirk and…well, let’s just say it involves a raised palm and a slightly exasperated expression.

Can you guess which one it is?

Is it the sassy sunglasses or the fire emoji? Maybe even the celebratory dancing queen? Nope! Think more along the lines of…drumroll please… the classic “facepalm” ‍♀!

She adds that “shaking head” to hers though… keeping it real, not just with her music but also with her emoji game. Watch the reveal below:

Move over, Cinderella, there’s a new feathered fairy in town!

Tems, the Nigerian songstress who’s taken the world by storm, did not come to play at the British Fashion Awards (BFAs) presented by Pandora. Instead, she soared onto the red carpet in a Dilara Findikoglu back-laced birdie look that was nothing short of enchanting.

Forget feathers as simple embellishments, Tems treated them as an entire fashion statement. This wasn’t your grandma’s boa – it was a snug full-on white feathered ensemble that accentuated her curvy figure. The dress was playful yet powerful, a great reflection of Tems’ unique artistic spirit and a nod to her sonorous voice (like a bird).

Tems’ outfit silhouette was remarkably sophisticated. Who needs a ballgown when you can command attention with a pencil cut? It was a masterful blend of whimsy with an undeniable sense of cool. Naturally, the internet is buzzing. Social media is a flurry of “yas queen” and “living for this look”, of course with good reason – Tems’ red carpet look always gets the people talking.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

M·A·C VIVA GLAM: The iconic Lipstick set to transform the beauty industry and positively impact countless lives is turning 30. With a bold vision of raising another half-billion dollars for charity, M·A·C is unveiling its expanded charitable mission and the revamped VIVA GLAM lipstick lineup, which continues to give back 100% of the purchasing price to local organisations around the world working to advance equal rights and healthy futures for All Ages, All Races, All Genders.

M.A.C VIVA GLAM has expanded its Mission to Support Equal Rights For All
The 30th-anniversary campaign will celebrate the impact of over $520 million the program has raised to date while spotlighting the newly revamped four-shade Lipstick lineup and expanded charitable mission to better address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

In addition to continuing its three-decades-long support for people impacted by HIV/AIDS, VIVA GLAM will be dedicated to driving equality across the following four areas: Gender Equality, Sexual Equality, Racial Equality and Environmental Eqaulity.

Through these 4 pillars, M.A.C VIVA GLAM continues to give back to local organizations to harness the power of community and transform society.

A Donation to Women at Risk International Foundation

With a focus on the gender equality pillar, M.A.C Sub-saharan Africa has partnered with the Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF) to address gender-based violence in Nigeria. This collaboration provides essential resources and support to women while fostering long-term empowerment within the community.

WARIF received a grant of $30,000 (N46,932,900) from M.A.C VIVA GLAM to implement the Women Empowerment Project (WEP) in Lagos & Oyo States. The WEP aims to educate and empower disenfranchised women and girls, aged 16 – 65, on the prevention of and proper response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. In addition, the program equips the participants with essential vocational and financial literacy skills, helping them move towards financial independence.

This partnership underscores the commitment of M·A·C VIVA GLAM’s Gender Equality pillar – to champion reproductive and gender rights, support the empowerment of women and girls, and advocate for body autonomy. Over the past year, M·A·C VIVA GLAM has made significant grants to organizations such as Adsum for Women & Children (Canada), Teens Key (Hong Kong), Woza Moya (South Africa), and the Committed Communities Development Trust (India).

Despite the incredible progress M·A·C VIVA GLAM has made over the past three decades, there is still so much more work to be done to create a more equal future for everyone, and we hope this campaign inspires the next generation to join us in raising the next half-billion dollars so we can continue making meaningful impact on communities that need it most, says Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois, Global Senior Vice President/General Manager, M·A·C Cosmetics.

But Wait, There is More!

Orange has never looked so good! Cynthia Obi-Uchendu is celebrating her birthday today, and she did it in style. The entrepreneur and lifestyle content creator shared beautiful photos of herself smiling at the camera, dressed in a bright orange high-low two-piece. Her double-toned hairstyle, minimal jewellery, and subtle makeup completed the look perfectly.

In her caption, she wrote:
“Here is to another year of celebrating growth. 🎂+1”

Her husband, Ebuka, also shared a special post on Instagram, giving us a glimpse of the love and support behind the scenes. In the photos, he’s seen taking pictures of Cynthia during her shoot, and it’s all kinds of adorable. His message was sweet and sincere:

You really could be so many other things if you wanted to, but you’ve always just chosen to be nothing but YOUR TRUE SELF. In a world that expects people to live their lives for public validation, you stand out ‘cos none of that phases you. It’s why anyone who gets to know you just a little closely, is always drawn by how self-effacing yet centered you are. And it’s truly one of my favorite things about you…
Happy birthday best friend. Your blessings are about to overflow! I love you ♥

How lovely is that?

The 73rd Miss Universe pageant has wrapped up, and what a show it was! Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina made headlines as the runner-up, earning the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania. This remarkable achievement has us reminiscing about the trailblazing African queens who have held the Miss Universe crown over the years—women who didn’t just wear a tiara but embodied the beauty, strength, and diversity of the continent.

Over the years, six African queens have won the Miss Universe crown, each leaving an indelible mark on the world stage. From South Africa to Namibia, Angola to Botswana, these women made history and redefined it. Each queen brought a unique story, representing their countries with style, grace, and purpose.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate these trailblazers who continue to inspire countless African girls to pursue their dreams on the global stage:

Margaret Gardiner (South Africa) – 1978

Margaret Gardiner was just 18 when she became the first African woman to win the Miss Universe crown in 1978—a groundbreaking moment for the continent. Decades later, Margaret’s charm and accomplishments remain timeless.

She’s built an impressive career as a journalist and author, with her fictional novel, “Damaged Beauty: Joey Superstar,” set to launch in South Africa in March 2025, followed by international releases. Margaret, who also holds a BSc in Psychology, has written books on health and beauty. And here’s a fun fact—she was on the selection panel for this year’s Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City.

Michelle McLean (Namibia) – 1992

Since winning Miss Universe in 1992, Michelle McLean has been dedicated to making a difference. She founded The Michelle McLean Children’s Trust, a non-profit organisation that supports underprivileged children in Namibia, providing them with hope and opportunities for a brighter future.

And that’s not all—Michelle has also shared her voice on some of the world’s biggest stages. From the World Economic Forum to the FIFA World Cup and even Opera at the Pyramids, she has hosted numerous high-profile international events. Her mission remains the same: leaving a positive impact wherever she goes.

Mpule Kwelagobe (Botswana) – 1999

The beautiful thing about Botswana’s first-ever entry into the Miss Universe pageant is that it was Mpule Kwelagobe, who took home the crown in 1999. For Botswana, it was a moment that showed the world what they could achieve, and for Mpule, it was just the start of something bigger.

Since then, she’s continued to make a real difference. She founded the MPULE Institute for Endogenous Development, where she leads the way in African advocacy and public policy, working hard to bring about change across the continent.

Not stopping there, Mpule also founded the MAKARE Okavango Fund, an investment fund that focuses on the Green Economy in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, helping to promote sustainable development in the area. And here’s something even more inspiring: Mpule has always used her platform to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and women’s rights.

Leila Lopes (Angola) – 2011

Leila Lopes, Angola’s first Miss Universe, has made a lasting impact since winning the crown in 2011.

She used her time as Miss Universe to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and promote environmental sustainability in Angola, making sure her platform created meaningful change.

Now, as President of Miss Angola Universe, she continues to inspire and guide the future of the pageant, leaving a mark on the next generation.

Demi-Leigh Tebow (South Africa) – 2017

After nearly 40 years since Margaret Gardiner’s win, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters became South Africa’s second Miss Universe in 2017, marking another key achievement for the country.

Since then, she has become an author with “A Crown That Lasts,” a book that went on to become a USA TODAY Best-Seller.

Demi-Leigh, now married and known as Demi-Leigh Tebow, continues to make an impact with her advocacy and inspiring work, showing the world how to use your platform for good.

Zozibini Tunzi (South Africa) – 2019

When Zozibini Tunzi won Miss Universe in 2019, she became the first Black woman with natural afro-textured hair to take the crown, and is still the most recent Miss Universe from Africa.

Since 2019, Zozibini has kept inspiring women around the world with her strong advocacy for gender equality and her commitment to authenticity. She’s also built a successful career as an international TV host, MC, producer, and influencer. Recently, she hosted the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and even landed a role in the accailmed movie, “The Woman King.”
