Here’s how Mamy popped the question:

I wanted my proposal to Kankou, to be simple yet heartfelt. We came from Guinea to Nigeria for this unforgettable moment, which I knew would leave her speechless. Despite the language barrier—I speak little English, and Kankou only speaks French—I reached out to a planner in Nigeria, and we seamlessly connected through the universal language of love.

Kankou arrived in Nigeria thinking it was just a getaway and a shopping trip, but I had a beautiful surprise in store. From a dreamy, intimate setup to curating French songs that embodied our love, every detail was designed to reflect our story. It was a magical evening where love crossed borders, overcame barriers, and created lifelong memories.

Remember that vision you had about uplifting women entrepreneurs? You put your heart into building a fund that didn’t just offer financial help but also provided mentorship, guidance, and a community of support. It was amazing to see how your hard work paid off as so many women transformed into thriving business owners, their confidence skyrocketing and their dreams taking off.

Your entrepreneurial spirit took off like a rocket. What started as a personal journey into natural haircare turned into a booming business. You created innovative products that honoured the beauty of all hair types, offering nourishment and empowerment. Your brand became a beacon of self-love, individuality, and a challenge to the status quo. You built a community around your brand, creating a space where everyone felt they belonged and celebrated their unique beauty. “A decade of love, laughter, and adventure has flown by, and I’m still in awe of the incredible bond we share. With you, every day feels like a blessing,” Chioma Uzodimma, shared these loving words with her husband, Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, as they celebrated 10 years of marriage.

The couple marked the occasion with a church ceremony to renew their vows and shared a beautiful photoshoot to capture the moment. For the ceremony, Chioma looked beautiful in a glittery lace gown, while Hope kept it sharp in a suit. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to celebrate with them as they reflected on their journey together.

Reflecting on the vow renewal, Governor Uzodimma said: “This renewal of our marital vows is deeply energizing, a reaffirmation of our love and an unshakable bond that grows stronger with each passing day. It is a testament to the strength of our commitment and the blessings we have received.”

They also embraced tradition in another photoshoot, where Chioma wore a red lace gown with a matching gele, while Hope looked regal in an isiagu top, black trousers, and a red cap. Sharing these moments, Governor Uzodimma wrote a warm note to Chioma:

How we met
By the groom, Chinanu:

I met my wife in November 2020, at a job interview in Nigerian Airforce hospital Ikeja. We didn’t speak or exchange contacts, we just did our thing and both went our separate ways. Fast forward to February 2021 I was resuming a job at a different hospital- Saint Nicholas hospital and there she was again, at the moment it felt like a sign but then I quickly dismissed it.

We started getting to know each other and got closer over the next few months, then we discovered we had so many similarities; our upbringings and background, few members of our families knew each other or knew of each other. This was another, interesting coincidence however we weren’t keen on a relationship at the time because we had both just come out of separate relationships.

It wasn’t until over a year later that we decided to officially get into a relationship, at this time I was so sure that she was the one. The level of peace I had was unprecedented I knew this was most definitely God ordained. From the moment we started dating I started making my intentions clear: I wanted her to be mine forever. Now here we are, our glorious journey to eternity has begun.

The event tagged “Food Box Project” is a charity initiative of Symphony of Praise and powered by Yeloto. Over five hundred families, from different communities across Amuwo Odofin local government area were gifted Food Boxes that would serve them for the yuletide. Each Food Box is packed with Food and Groceries.

At different times, Dr Yemi Olawaiye, (ably represented by Sunkanmi Idowu) of Yeloto and Seun Ayeni of SOP took time to highlight the values of both organizations and the benefits of the partnership, as one that serves humanity’s greatest good.

Against the backdrop of stampedes that characterised recent charity events in the country, Seyi Adeyemo, a community leader in Amuwo Odofin, commended the quality of decorum and order that defined the Food Box Project while appreciating the charity gestures of Yeloto and Symphony of Praise (SOP).

Adding to the festive atmosphere, renowned actor Daniel Etim Effiong graced the event. He commended Yeloto Incorporated for their initiative and entertained the beneficiaries with dance games, while also showing his appreciation for his fans by distributing cash gifts.

The event was attended by community leaders and stakeholders, who expressed appreciation for the continued organization of the annual event despite the challenging economic climate.

Several beneficiaries also shared their positive experiences from previous years, highlighting the ongoing impact of the initiative.

The Food Box Project 2024 concluded with a festive atmosphere, featuring raffle draws, music, and entertainment. This initiative was undertaken by the Yeloto African Children Foundation, an organization founded by Dr. Yemi Olawaiye, which is dedicated to improving the overall well-being of children across Africa.

The shop, named ‘Alexpress’, is stocked with a variety of essentials from household items, food, drinks, and even Christmas turkeys.

For Alex, this goes beyond just spreading holiday cheer, it’s a way to give back to the community where he grew up and honour the values his parents taught him.

In a chat with the BBC, Alex shared how growing up with such examples shaped his approach to life, describing them as his role models whose generosity has always inspired him.

Welcome to Alexpress, hosted by me in Canning Town, where I was raised for my primary school years. People, families—they are going to come in. They select a drink, also stuff for the house. There’s different foods that they can take, and by the end of it, there is a turkey.

We like to do something every Christmas to try and give back. If I can help them celebrate a great Christmas, why not?

Just seeing how my parents are, I have always seen them give back. And with that as role models, it just made me feel like, when I get into a position where I am today, or if I was in less of a position, I would always try to do my best to give back and help out the less fortunate or people that are not able to eat.

Reality TV star Atteh Daniel, also known as Sir Dee, and his wife, Chloe, were on the second episode of  “My Favourite Christmas Memory with Tope” with Tope Olowoniyan to share their favourite Christmas memories, how they celebrate the season together, and what makes it so special for them.

Chloe shared that one of her favourite Christmas memories is spending time with her brothers. Having them around for the holidays always made the season feel extra special for her.

For Sir Dee, one of his most memorable Christmases involved a heartfelt gesture – he went to deliver food to a neighbour, which is a common Nigerian tradition during Christmas. To his surprise, the neighbour gave him 50,000 Naira in return, a kind and unexpected gift that made the moment even more special, and he says he won’t ever forget it.

When it comes to their ideal Christmas meals, Sir Dee says he’s all about pounded yam with egusi soup, chicken, fried rice, and jollof rice, while Chloe’s includes lamb, roasted potatoes, and vegetables.

As a newly married couple, Chloe and Sir Dee are looking forward to celebrating their first Christmas together. They’re considering starting a fun tradition – a Christmas-themed photo shoot with matching pyjamas for them and their puppy.

Chloe also shared When Tope asked Chloe about the Nigerian tradition where most parents buy new clothes for their kids at Christmas, she admitted she didn’t experience it. However, she did get Christmas gifts, which made the holiday season feel just as special.

Sir Dee also shared his mantra for the year 2025:

Build wealth, I just want to be able to build generational wealth in the sense that not necessarily that I make billions right now now but I create structures that has the potentials to make said billions.

At just 13 years old, sitting in an unfinished building, Nancy Isime made a promise to herself: “I’m going to own a good home!” It was a simple yet powerful declaration that marked the beginning of a journey for the Nollywod star.

Fast forward to today, Nancy is celebrating her 33rd birthday in the most incredible way — owning a beautiful, fully furnished home. The dream of a good home is now a reality, and she’s over the moon about it! 

Sharing the good news on Instagram this morning, Nancy posted photos of herself at the entrance of her new home in a chic white dress, balloons in hand, and joy written all over her face as she signed the papers. Her caption was just as inspiring, filled with gratitude and a beautiful reminder of how far she’s come.

Which of the Lord’s blessings can I deny? None!

I remember so clearly, I was about 13, sitting in what was going to be our new home – an uncompleted building, the only windows and doors were those protecting the rooms we would sleep in. Everywhere else was pure carcass!
No flooring, No ceilings, No doors, No windows, No running water- just our beloved well which provided us water to do everything including drink.

I remember sitting there and one day I said… I’m going to own a Good home! But before I buy even a tiny piece of land, I’m going to help Daddy achieve his lifelong dream of owning a fully completed furnished house.

At 17, I started working, starting strongly as a booked and busy Event Usher.
After every earning, I’ll set aside some money towards “Vision Daddy’s house”, this continued through out all of my career transitions and finally on the 18th of December 2022, I gave my Daddy the keys to his fully completed and furnished dream home.

Quietly while everyone was celebrating this new feat, in passing, I said “God, I don do wetin you say make I do oh, abeg help me run my own, but no rush, at your own time”.

December 15 2023, I received the keys and papers to my dream home, after making my first initial payment just a few days prior (Slide 4&5)
3months prior to this day, I didn’t even think that was going to ever be a possibility in my life, na husband house I be dey use style eye

Sigh! God is Good!

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been named the 2024 CAF African Footballer of the Year. The announcement was made during the awards ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, today, Monday night.

Ademola, 27, has had an incredible season with Atalanta and the Nigerian national team, delivering outstanding performances that earned him this recognition. He was instrumental in Atalanta’s historic Europa League victory, scoring a hat-trick in the final to secure the club’s first European trophy and only the second major title in their history.

On the international stage, Ademola’s contributions were just as remarkable. He scored three key goals during Nigeria’s run to the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Despite Nigeria narrowly losing to Côte d’Ivoire in the final, Ademola’s impact throughout the tournament was undeniable.

In the 2023–24 season, Ademola recorded 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 games for Atalanta. His form has carried over into this season, with 11 goals in 19 games as Atalanta currently lead Serie A by two points ahead of Napoli.

The Nigerian star was shortlisted alongside Côte d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams for the award.

At 34 years old, Angélique Angarni-Filopon has made history as the first ever contestant over the age of 30 to win the Miss France crown. Her win comes after the pageant’s rules were changed in 2022 to allow women over 24, as well as married women and mothers, to compete.

At the Miss France pageant, which took place on Saturday, December 14, the flight attendant from Martinique shattered sterotypes and proved that age is no barrier to dreams

Angélique’s journey to this moment is as compelling as her historic win. Back in 2011, she was a 20-year-old first runner-up in the Miss Martinique competition. Thirteen years later, she returned to the Miss France stage with a renewed determination ready to defy societal expectations and claim the title.

Speaking on her win, Angélique shared,

In 2011, I was a 20-year-old first runner-up in the Miss Martinique competition. Today, at 34, I stand before you representing Martinique, its diaspora, and all the women who’ve ever been told it’s too late.

This year’s Miss France pageant was more than just about beauty; it was a celebration of inclusivity and diversity like never before. Over 30 contestants from various fields, including doctors and dentists, competed in rounds that showcased swimsuits, regional costumes, and elegant ballgowns.

Held yesterday, December 14, 2024, at Island Hall, Fashion Island in Bangkok, Thailand, the 16th edition of the Mister International pageant brought together contestants showcasing their talents and celebrating diversity on a global stage. Samuel’s confidence and charisma shone through, culminating in his crowning moment by Kim Thitisan Goodburn of Thailand, the outgoing titleholder.

This achievement is part of Nigeria’s growing representation in global pageantry. Just recently, Chidimma Adetshina became the first Nigerian to place as first runner-up at Miss Universe. Now, Samuel’s win marks yet another milestone for the country.

In his appreciation speech, Samuel shared an inspiring message:

I feel very great and I am very happy for the support each and every one of you gave me throughout this journey. My message is a message of hope and resilience. It all began when @MarinatedTurks asked, “Has someone been so kind to you that you just sit weeping uncontrollably?” What started as a straightforward question quickly turned into a flood of heartfelt responses. People opened up about moments when kindness made them feel seen, supported, and even moved to tears.

One response that caught attention came from @MeetJMB, who shared an emotional story about a classmate, Chisom Ogbummuo, and the life-changing kindness she showed him.

Yes!

Her name is Chisom Ogbummuo, my class mate who spoke to her dad on my behalf to house me for close to 2 years until I found my feet after school.

When we were done with school (UNILAG), I didn’t have where to live in Lagos. And I swore never to go back home (Kaduna).

I was the Faculty president of my set so I had my office to live in for some days until it was pertinent for me to give keys to the new administration. And that day it actually dawned on me that I didn’t have where to go.

Yemi, another classmate asked that I followed him to his in-law’s 3 bedroom apartment as they (his sister and husband were in the US for holidays). I had just stayed 3 days when one early morning Yemi woke me up that I had to leave as his brother was coming back that day. I was confused with my phone.

So, I called Chisom who was my best friend at the time, and she said, bring your things to Ago Palace Way (my first time there). I went, saw the dad, explained my ordeal and he allowed me in, the rest they say is history.

My first night in their house, I CRIED and CROED!

If I write a book, Chisom and her family will take 15% of the chapters. I will never forget!”

It’s moments like these that remind us that kindness doesn’t always need to be loud or grand. Sometimes, it’s the simple, life-changing acts from those who genuinely care that make all the difference.
