I wanted my proposal to Kankou, to be simple yet heartfelt. We came from Guinea to Nigeria for this unforgettable moment, which I knew would leave her speechless. Despite the language barrier—I speak little English, and Kankou only speaks French—I reached out to a planner in Nigeria, and we seamlessly connected through the universal language of love.

Kankou arrived in Nigeria thinking it was just a getaway and a shopping trip, but I had a beautiful surprise in store. From a dreamy, intimate setup to curating French songs that embodied our love, every detail was designed to reflect our story. It was a magical evening where love crossed borders, overcame barriers, and created lifelong memories.

How we met
By the bride, Amarachi:

Aside from knowing Ken as a senior in Unilag Law, I first met him on Friday, January 28, 2022, in front of the South Socials restaurant. I still vaguely remember his outfit from that day, and how attractive he was to me. But what struck me was his kindness and his immediate willingness to help me and my friends the moment he saw we were “stranded”. I followed him on Twitter the next day to say thank you, but he didn’t follow back and his DM was locked. After a week or so, I unfollowed. On May 12, 2022, I bumped into him at the Federal High Court. I remember contemplating hard whether I should say hi. I did eventually and I had to refer to the South incident for him to remember me.

July 8, 2022, officially marked the beginning of our friendship. My friend, Duro invited me to her brother’s party at Bature and Ken was coincidentally there. That day, I realised he was an amazing singer. He hijacked the live band at Bature and performed “Majesty” by Peruzzi. I could have sworn that it was the actual song playing but I saw him singing with the mic and I was amazed! We danced together that night and had a light conversation. I remember he saved my name on his phone as “Amarachi a BABE” that night, and he told me he wanted to see me again. After a couple of outings and hangouts in 2022, I had a very strong conviction that he was my person. I remember telling my friend Azuka, in 2022, that Ken was my husband. I don’t know what it was, but I knew I was in love with him and wanted to be with him. Years have passed, and now more than ever, I am so convinced that Nkem, as I fondly call him, is my person. In Nkem, I have found a confidant, a lover, and a best friend, and I cannot wait to do life forever with him.

How we met
By the groom, Ken:

It is often the case that we are unaware when life-changing events occur. This was the case that night walking into South and meeting Amarachi with her friends. We did not say anything to each other as I was occupied trying to ensure she and her friends were all okay. It would be a few months before we met again and this time, I made sure to speak to her, dance with her, and get her number. In the early period of becoming friends, she made a note of always asking ‘deep’ questions that often left me unsettled and worried as to why barely knowing me, she wanted to know me that deeply. I remember making a firm resolve never to let my guard down. But Amarachi is easy to love, for the first time I did not have to bother about being anything but myself and that was enough.

My guard soon dissolved, I found myself waking up early to pray with her before her Bar exams, pausing work to teach her corporate law, helping guide her for the job hunt, maybe this explains why she ended up joining the same law firm I worked in and we became colleagues. Amarachi is my biggest supporter; many do not know but my first ever viral singing video was Amarachi’s doing and she was also the one behind the camera. I made the decision to make this a forever thing earlier this year in May and flew in from Toronto a week before she was expecting me, surprised her with a proposal in front of our closest friends and family. I love the way Amma loves me, it gives me strength to go out there and be myself and conquer. I can not wait to be her husband.

In October 2021, l and Adeola were introduced to each other by a good friend of mine who invited me to a church program. Our first encounter was pleasant but unremarkable; we exchanged greetings, made small talk, and didn’t give each other much thought afterwards. We went about our lives, each seeing the other as a friendly face but not much more. As time passed, Adeola and I continued to cross paths at church and in our shared social circles. In 2022, our interactions grew more frequent, and we discovered that we shared a deeper connection than we had initially realized. Our casual acquaintance blossomed into a genuine friendship as we found comfort, understanding, and laughter in each other’s presence. Later in the same year, it felt natural to take the next step, and we decided to start a relationship.

For a few months, we enjoyed the excitement of dating, sharing new experiences, and growing closer. However, in October of that same year, challenges emerged, and we began to feel that maybe we were better suited apart. We went our separate ways, believing it was time to move on. In the months that followed, we attempted to fill the gap by seeing other people. Yet, something was missing, and neither of us could shake the feeling that our connection had been unique. Despite the distance, we continued to think of each other, and no one else seemed to compare. After a couple of months in 2023, we both realized that we wanted to be back in each other’s lives, even if just as friends. We reconnected, cautiously at first, both feeling a mixture of excitement and nostalgia.

Our friendship rekindled easily, and it was as though we had never been apart. This time, however, our bond felt different. There was a warmth and a depth that hadn’t been there before–a sense of peace and purpose that was unmistakable. Later in the same year we found ourselves talking late into the night, reflecting on how our journey had unfolded and how God seemed to keep bringing us back to one another. In that moment, we knew we were meant to be together. Our path had not been straightforward, but every step had drawn us closer, preparing us for a life we could only imagine with each other. In April, Ghana became a special destination for Andrew’s (Obinna’s) parents as they set foot in the country for the first time. Eager to explore its culture and traditions, they immersed themselves in the vibrant community life around them. One Monday evening, they attended a mid-week Christian meeting, curious to experience a deeper sense of connection with the local community. Meanwhile, I faced a dilemma. The day had been hectic, and by the time evening approached, it seemed impossible to make it to the meeting on time.

Traffic loomed large—a potential obstacle that could easily have kept me away. For a brief moment, I considered turning back and staying home. But something deep inside urged me to go. I decided to brave the traffic, arriving at the Kingdom Hall just in time to settle into the service. Andrew’s parents were there too, seated just a few rows away. I didn’t notice them at first, nor did I realize the impact I’d already made. Midway through the meeting, I stepped out for a moment. Andrew’s parents, particularly his mother, had been observing and felt a curious pull. His father leaned over, quietly urging her to follow me and strike up a conversation. Trusting his instinct, she stepped outside to meet me.

She found me standing quietly, taking in the evening air. With warmth and grace, she introduced herself, her smile kind and genuine. We began to talk, and a simple exchange turned into a meaningful conversation. She asked about my life, my work, and my journey. The couple marked the occasion with a church ceremony to renew their vows and shared a beautiful photoshoot to capture the moment. For the ceremony, Chioma looked beautiful in a glittery lace gown, while Hope kept it sharp in a suit. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to celebrate with them as they reflected on their journey together.

Reflecting on the vow renewal, Governor Uzodimma said: “This renewal of our marital vows is deeply energizing, a reaffirmation of our love and an unshakable bond that grows stronger with each passing day. It is a testament to the strength of our commitment and the blessings we have received.”

They also embraced tradition in another photoshoot, where Chioma wore a red lace gown with a matching gele, while Hope looked regal in an isiagu top, black trousers, and a red cap. Sharing these moments, Governor Uzodimma wrote a warm note to Chioma:

How we met

I met my wife in November 2020, at a job interview in Nigerian Airforce hospital Ikeja. We didn’t speak or exchange contacts, we just did our thing and both went our separate ways. Fast forward to February 2021 I was resuming a job at a different hospital- Saint Nicholas hospital and there she was again, at the moment it felt like a sign but then I quickly dismissed it.

We started getting to know each other and got closer over the next few months, then we discovered we had so many similarities; our upbringings and background, few members of our families knew each other or knew of each other. This was another, interesting coincidence however we weren’t keen on a relationship at the time because we had both just come out of separate relationships.

It wasn’t until over a year later that we decided to officially get into a relationship, at this time I was so sure that she was the one. The level of peace I had was unprecedented I knew this was most definitely God ordained. From the moment we started dating I started making my intentions clear: I wanted her to be mine forever. Now here we are, our glorious journey to eternity has begun.

Our story began with a follow on Twitter almost 11 years ago during the University of Houston freshman follow-train era. Little did we know this casual online connection would become the foundation of a lifelong bond.

Our first in-person meeting was at an event hosted by the Nigerian Students Association (NSA). Wesley was initially reserved that night, but as the evening unfolded, we both began to see each other in a new light. Wesley’s charisma, humor, and kindness shone through, and by the end of the night, we felt as though we had each gained a potential new friend. Over the next few months, we bumped into each other at campus events, but our friendship truly took root around my birthday in September 2014. It was a last-minute celebration, and when Wesley made an extra effort to be there—despite the location being out of the way—it left a lasting impression. That was just one of many moments that revealed the thoughtful and caring person he is.

Soon after, our friendship deepened. When I decided to apply for the University of Houston Student Ambassador program, Wesley, a seasoned ambassador himself, coached me through the entire process. Even though I didn’t get the position, Wesley continued to show up for me, including tutoring me through a tough pre-calculus class. He even taught himself pre-calculus just to help me succeed, and the resulting B+ felt like a shared victory. These moments of support laid a foundation of trust and admiration between us. We thank God for bringing us together and blessing us with a love that has grown stronger with each passing year. With His grace, we’re excited to continue building our beautiful love story as husband and wife.

Who would have thought that the childhood Tom and Jerry would grow to become Lovebirds? We have been friends since childhood as our families were friends. However we lost contact at a very young age till he was in his final year in the university while I was in 200 level.

And all thanks to our Mums, Reuniting was the best thing to ever happen to us as we knew from the very first call and date that we were meant for each other. Years of friendship, love, happiness, sacrifices, and prayers was worth it in the end, as God has beautifully prepared our ‘Happily Ever After.’

How we met

I first met TJ during our secondary school days at the University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School. She was three years my junior in school and was in the same class as my younger brother. Back then, we had no real interaction. I went on to attend the University of Benin while she went to the University of Port Harcourt. Years later, we started following each other on Instagram, likely because we recognised each other from secondary school. I secretly admired the pictures she posted, but I didn’t make my first move until 2018.

I slid into her DMs with what I thought was a smooth and cute birthday message, but her response wasn’t exactly encouraging. I tried again in 2021, sending her another DM, but she kept responding with one-word replies. At that point, I stepped back, reminding myself that I’m a “spec” too. (Lol.) Then, out of nowhere, on October 27, 2023, she randomly popped into my head—no Instagram post or external trigger—just pure intuition. I decided to shoot my shot one more time, this time going full honey badger mode. To my surprise, she was feeling the boy this time!

We had an epic, hours-long phone conversation, and I was blown away. I found myself thinking, “Wait… is she really this amazing?” From that moment on, I was hooked. Every call and message after that only deepened my admiration for her. I kept wondering, “Is this girl even real?” But she consistently proved me wrong with her kindness, selflessness, and incredible perspective on life. The way she treats people and sees the world was mind-blowing.

Obviously, I had to see this magic in person. So, I hopped on a plane to Nigeria. When we met face-to-face, she was even more amazing than I imagined. Love, respect, kindness—she had it all. That’s when I knew I couldn’t wait. I had to make her mine before someone else tried. After returning to London, I was already planning my next trip to see her. For the engagement, I went all out. Getting her ring size was quite the challenge. I even tried enlisting my sister-in-law to rent a jewelry box and invite TJ over to try on pendants and fashion rings. On top of that, I measured her sister’s ring and added a little bit of inshallah to the process (lol).

Back in August 2015, I enrolled in Bible school at Living Faith Church, thinking it would just be another step in my spiritual journey. I didn’t realise that I was about to meet the love of my life. It all started innocently enough, We were four strangers who became friends in class, and the two of us became closer, building a stronger friendship. But there was one day in particular after we wrote an exam on the principles of faith, four of us had a heated debate on one of the answers, he was so sure of himself and I was equally confident. The stakes were high, but the banter was even higher.

When the results came out, he got all A’s, while I, to my surprise ended up with a B. He couldn’t resist teasing me about it (he still does) and what could I do but laugh?  That lighthearted moment turned into something more, our connection deepened and I started to see him in a new light . His intelligence and charm were undeniable, but there was something else – an unspoken bond that was growing stronger by the day.

Our story began on April 20, 2019, at a mutual friend’s house party. Amidst the laughter and lively conversations, our paths crossed, and an unexplainable connection sparked between us. Despite Arinze living in a different city, just one week later, he made a spontaneous decision that would change our lives forever. Arinze travelled three hours to London for what was supposed to be a simple coffee date. That “simple” coffee turned into an unforgettable five-hour date filled with shared dreams, laughter, and an undeniable bond. Neither of us wanted that day to end.

On August 17, 2019, Arinze asked me to be his girlfriend, and our journey together officially began. The start of our relationship wasn’t easy, with us living in different countries, and then in different cities, but our love proved to be stronger than the distance. We found joy in the little things, bonding over our shared love for trying out new foods, working out, and watching comedy shows. Four years later, on August 17, 2023, Arinze planned a surprise trip to Marrakesh. In that beautiful, enchanting city, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was a moment straight out of a fairytale, a memory we will cherish forever.

It all started in February 2017, when one of my coursemates, who was also a makeup artist, asked me to model for her at a photoshoot she was organising. Since I had recently started modelling, I agreed without hesitation. The shoot was scheduled for February 11th, and after finishing the makeup in our hostel, we made our way to the venue. That’s when I met him — a photographer who was, to put it mildly, ‘timid’ but incredibly professional. He took his photography very seriously, and his strict approach threw me off a bit.

Honestly, I didn’t like him much at first! But after the shoot, he asked for my number, claiming he needed it to send me the pictures when they were ready. We didn’t really communicate much after that, until my birthday in May. At exactly 12 midnight, he called me to wish me a happy birthday. After that, he started calling me every morning before 8 a.m. to say “Good morning.” I won’t lie — I wasn’t a fan of those early-morning calls at first, but over time, we started getting closer.

By July, he’d come visit me at my hostel (since he lived off-campus), and I started to see a different side of him. What really drew me to him was how caring and intentional he was — he’d get me little gifts without me even asking, and he always encouraged me to grow and be the best version of myself. Then, on August 3rd 2017 we officially started dating. Looking back, it’s honestly been the best years of my life. And just recently, on November 24th, 2024, he officially asked me to be his wife.

Fun fact: The first time I visited his house outside of school, he told me, “I’m going to marry you one day.” I guess he kept his word!

A dinner invitation that was nearly declined became the cornerstone of a love story—how #MannyGotHisChikus. Once upon a time, in a now-defunct restaurant called Panache, a mutual friend, Mr. Femi, invited me to join a group of friends for dinner. It was a Friday night, and with a handful of eager out-of-town visitors to entertain. I decided to make a quick appearance. Accompanied by my best friend. I assured him they would stay for only 30 minutes before heading out for some Friday night fun. But fate had other plans.

At the dinner table, Chinwe, whom I call Chikus, stood out like royalty, exuding the poise and grace of Khaleesi herself, the Mother of Dragons. She immediately caught my eye. In that moment, time seemed to freeze as I marveled at her timeless beauty and radiance. Like Jon Snow, I truly knew nothing of what was about to unfold. Chikus’ infectious smile captivated me, compelling me to abandon my promise to my Best friend.

Two hours later, before leaving, I boldly asked for Chikus’ number, under the pretense of supporting the business where she worked. However, it wasn’t until the pandemic lockdown that our bond truly began to form. What started as a long-distance, platonic friendship (though I was already not-so-secretly smitten) blossomed into something more when we both found ourselves single.

This “something more” grew into deep conversations about building a future together. Despite enduring back-to-back personal tragedies, we found strength in each other, supported by prayer and the love of our families. With God and our loved ones on our side, the stars aligned, guiding us like the three wise men to Bethlehem. Our path forward was illuminated, leading us to the altar of Holy Matrimony, where we will pledge our love and devotion, ready to start a family before God, friends, family, and community.

Who knew a failed bank transaction would lead to Marriage. It all began at a friend’s get-together, a lively evening filled with laughter and shared stories. I remember meeting Obi that night—his warm smile and engaging conversation left a lasting impression. Little did I know, our paths would intertwine in unexpected ways just a few months later. Fast forward to the tumultuous days of the Nigerian presidential elections, when challenges with paper currency had everyone on edge. I was eager to purchase a new laptop for my organization, and I decided to use a WhatsApp platform I was part of to exchange dollars for naira. I sent my dollars, optimistic about the process, but my excitement quickly turned to frustration when the naira never appeared in my account. In my anger, I learned that Obi was actually a cofounder of the platform I was using. I remembered him from that night we met, and though I was feeling a bit annoyed, I reached out to him. I needed to know if the platform was legitimate. Obi assured me it was and warned me that there might be a delay.

Three days went by, and still no sign of my money. I was fuming when Obi called me, suggesting I pray about the situation, hinting that maybe this was a blocked door. At first, I couldn’t believe he had the audacity to suggest prayer in the midst of my financial frustration. But I took a deep breath and decided to give it a shot, asking God to intervene. The next day, I spent three grueling hours at the bank, only to discover they had no record of my transfer. I was furious and called Obi’s cofounder, demanding answers. They promised to escalate the issue and involve their bank. Just as my patience was running thin, later that evening, I received a notification: the money had miraculously dropped into my account. Relief washed over me, and I couldn’t help but feel a spark of gratitude toward Obi for his support during that chaotic time. A few weeks later, Obi invited me to a lounge with a few friends.

By then, we had been communicating a lot—sending voice notes back and forth. I decided to bring two friends along, partly for moral support and partly to gauge Obi’s interest. At the end of the night, my friends concluded he was just a nice guy with an amazing smile, probably wanting to be friends. But I felt something different. As the night wrapped up, Obi asked if I could stay longer and if he could call me the next day. When he did call, we ended up talking for an hour and 45 minutes, lost in conversation and laughter. From that moment on, we never stopped speaking. And so, our love story began, rooted in our love for God and blossoming through connection and understanding. Obi and I learned that sometimes, love finds its way in the most surprising of circumstances. As we prepare to say “I do,” I am forever grateful for that initial meeting, the challenges we faced together, and the bond we’ve built. Here’s to a lifetime of love and adventure together!

The first time I saw her, we were both standing at the office reception. I remember the receptionist calling her name to give her a work pass, and then I repeated her name. she turned to look at me and said ‘yes’ and I smiled and said ‘hello’, then left to our various departments. We didn’t run into each other again for a couple of weeks, until one evening I was sitting in the workplace lounge and someone walked into the lounge and when I looked up it was her.

I smiled at her and she said ‘It’s you’ lol. Apparently, she said she had been looking for me but never found me and she even saw someone who looked like me and had the same dreads as mine (because that was what she remembered) but when she said hello to the person, the countenance of the person was very cold, like they had never met.

Well, I asked for her number, and after so much convincing, she reluctantly gave it to me, and the rest is history. We started dating a month after, and it’s been 3 years of arguments, peace, happiness, date nights, celebrations and love, and no matter what I wouldn’t trade our relationship for anything.

How we met
By the bride, Naza:

In January 2019, I attended a friend’s wedding as a bridesmaid. Little did I know, that day would change everything. As I stepped out of the venue to grab something, I spotted a familiar face from school and went over to say hello. That’s when I noticed Stanley, a charming groomsman. He looked at me, smiled, and said, “You look so beautiful. Can I take a picture of you?”

Flattered, I agreed, and he took not just one but several shots and promised to send them to me. I remember thinking, How? We haven’t even exchanged numbers. Later at the reception, I tracked him down to ask for the pictures. That’s when he got my number, he sent the photos on WhatsApp and I returned to my seat. But fate wasn’t done with us yet; soon after, we ran into each other by chance, and we spent time talking and laughing, sharing stories as if we’d known each other forever. There and then, a friendship was born.

Our friendship didn’t last long. We stopped communicating for a while. Then in June 2019, he tried to rekindle the friendship but I ignored him. In November 2019, he reached out again, this time to congratulate me on my university graduation, and I felt a little spark rekindling. We started talking more, and this time, something was different. In December, I traveled to my friend’s hometown for the Christmas celebration, which also happens to be Stanley’s hometown. We saw each other again, sparks started to fly, and a deeper connection was formed. Then, on January 2nd of the following year, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes. Now, with Stanley, it’s truly till the wheels fall off.

One fateful evening, my sister Olaronke teased me with an intriguing piece of news. It happened to be the day before my birthday, and she had shared a photo of me on her status. Brimming with excitement, she relayed that a friend of hers had reached out, inquiring about my relationship status. She sought my permission to pass on my number, sparking a flurry of questions from me in rapid succession. Who is he? How do you know him? Why haven’t I heard of him before if he’s your friend? Can you vouch for his character?

My sister patiently fielded my barrage of inquiries, assuring me of his integrity and urging me to give him a chance. “Get to know him,” she advised. Apart from concerns about his intentions and suitability, the prospect of navigating a long-distance relationship with a stranger added another layer of uncertainty. My initial reluctance led me to entertain the idea of simply passing the time with casual conversation—I wasn’t ready to let my guard down. The following day, on my birthday, he messaged me, introducing himself and extending heartfelt birthday wishes and prayers. Amidst the flurry of birthday greetings flooding my inbox, I found myself unable to respond to him that day.

When I finally checked my phone the next afternoon, I was greeted by a lengthy message from him, expressing his intentions with candour and wit. As I read through his words, I was captivated by his charm and directness. He left me intrigued and wondered, “Who is this guy?” His eagerness to connect left me little room to breathe, yet I found myself drawn to him. As our conversations unfolded, I found myself enamoured by his values and beliefs, as well as the depth of his affection for me. In him, I saw qualities that resonated deeply with me, and I couldn’t help but feel that I had found someone truly special. HE IS SO PERFECT I whispered to myself, acknowledging the blossoming connection that held the promise of something extraordinary.

How we met

This enchanting tale began one memorable morning as I idly scrolled through my phone, a routine habit of mine to catch up on messages and overnight updates. Amidst the familiar buzz of WhatsApp notifications, a striking image caught my eye, causing me to pause, and take a second glance. It was a photo uploaded by a longtime friend, coincidentally just a day before her birthday. What better timing to seize the opportunity to explore the potential of forging new memories together?

There was an indescribable allure about the person captured in that image, prompting me to swiftly reach out to my friend, expressing my keen interest in learning more. With characteristic efficiency, my friend wasted no time obtaining consent to share her contact details. Thanks to her swift action, I found myself in possession of this person’s number, ready to take the plunge into the unknown.

From the outset, I made my intentions clear. I’m not one to engage in superficial banter; I prefer to dive straight into meaningful conversations. And so, our dialogue began, albeit slightly at first, mindful of her birthday celebrations and the likelihood of a busy schedule. I kept my initial message brief, extending warm wishes for her special day and leaving ample space for her to enjoy the festivities uninterrupted.

The following morning, nestled in the comfort of my cosy bed, I crafted a more substantial message, laying bare my thoughts and intentions. I couldn’t shake the feeling that upon reading it, she might wonder, “Who is this guy?” And indeed, she later confessed that such scepticism had crossed her mind. But true to my nature, I pressed on, initiating a dialogue that soon transitioned from text exchanges to lengthy phone calls and eventually, marathon video chats.

In those moments, as our connection deepened, I couldn’t shake the conviction that I had found something truly special. Amidst the whirlwind of planning our wedding, surrounded by the love and support of our cherished family and friends, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and bliss. Indeed, it is a testament to the serendipitous nature of fate that brought us together, shaping our journey into a beautiful tapestry of shared experiences and cherished memories.

How we met

We met ending of April 2022. I had gone to spar in Enugu to buy some hair products, and on my way out, a car kept honking, but I paid no attention to it as I was speaking with my taxi guy. Chijioke walked up to me and asked for my name, something I used to do when men asked me for my name then was to give them a fake name. Then, I always told them my name was Ifunaya, but for some weird reason, my husband seemed familiar, like I knew him from somewhere. So when he asked for my name, I told him my real name. He also asked for my number, and I gave it to him and left. He didn’t reach out to me for like the first 2 days, then later in the week, he kept calling but always at the wrong time, so we didn’t talk then.

I travelled to Dubai for my aunty’s birthday, apparently he was also trying to reach me then but couldn’t access my number, then I came back and one faithful afternoon, I got a text on my phone both on WhatsApp and IMessage, I opened it up, and it was my husband, he had written a long heartfelt message on how he had been trying to reach me but to no avail and how he wanted to give up on the whole thing but something kept on pushing him back to me and go he would really love it if we could talk and if I’m up for it I should just say hi. This was like almost a month prior to the first time we met. Anyway, I said hi and we started talking from there.

He was a really funny guy and easy to talk to, he was always saying that we were going to get married but I didn’t really pay mind to him because at that time, I wasn’t really paying much attention to men. He was persistent and even changed his Home Screen to my picture, as an affirmation that we were going to get married.Anyway, to cut the long story short, On the 30th of May, 2022 he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes, apparently he already got an engagement ring then but I didn’t know. We dated for a while and went our separate ways because I was to travel to the US for my masters and he was to go to Turkey to complete his own masters degree but for some reason none of that ended up happening. We found our way back together and through all the hurdles, on the 5th of January 2024, he proposed to me against all odds. Though, we still had other struggles ahead but he never gave up and was so consistent and intentional. On the 7th of September, he paid my pride price and the rest was history.

We met online and from the very first conversation, we found ourselves engaged in intellectually stimulating discussions, effortlessly bantering back and forth. This connection sparked a deep curiosity between us but due to my travel and work commitments, we didn’t meet in person until two months after our initial hello. In fact, he thought I ghosted him! But he reached out to me for us to connect and catch up. When we finally met for a casual lunch, the chemistry was undeniable, and we chose to build on a strong foundation of friendship as we continued to get to know each other. It didn’t take long for us to realize we were falling for each other and had become each other’s best friends.

Coming from a culture where intermarriage isn’t common, I initially worried that my family and community might not approve of our relationship. However, by God’s grace, when they met him, they recognized the same qualities I saw: his kindness, brilliant mind, and humility. We are incredibly grateful for our journey together, cherishing God’s love as we look forward to a future where we plan to be together forever.

In October 2021, l and Adeola were introduced to each other by a good friend of mine who invited me to a church program. Our first encounter was pleasant but unremarkable; we exchanged greetings, made small talk, and didn’t give each other much thought afterwards. We went about our lives, each seeing the other as a friendly face but not much more. As time passed, Adeola and I continued to cross paths at church and in our shared social circles. In 2022, our interactions grew more frequent, and we discovered that we shared a deeper connection than we had initially realized. Our casual acquaintance blossomed into a genuine friendship as we found comfort, understanding, and laughter in each other’s presence. Later in the same year, it felt natural to take the next step, and we decided to start a relationship.

For a few months, we enjoyed the excitement of dating, sharing new experiences, and growing closer. However, in October of that same year, challenges emerged, and we began to feel that maybe we were better suited apart. We went our separate ways, believing it was time to move on. In the months that followed, we attempted to fill the gap by seeing other people. Yet, something was missing, and neither of us could shake the feeling that our connection had been unique. Despite the distance, we continued to think of each other, and no one else seemed to compare. After a couple of months in 2023, we both realized that we wanted to be back in each other’s lives, even if just as friends. That first encounter led to an Instagram follow, and soon, they were exploring art galleries and going on museum dates. Each outing brought them closer, deepening the magic of their connection. Now, they’re set to spend the rest of their lives together, as Victory got down on one knee and asked Stephanie to marry him. Amid a breathtaking view of nature, she said “Yes” to the man who had completely stolen her heart. The love and chemistry between these two is just so palpable… we are totally rooting for them!

Our first meeting was after a church service. I took a picture of her with a friend that day and I later found her Instagram. As God would have it, she had free tickets for an art exhibition at Tate Modern the following weekend and I asked to tag along. Fortunately for me, only one of her friends showed up! I remember us looking at Cezanne’s art and talking for hours. I was intrigued by how her mind worked and how varied her interests were. We all had lunch afterwards and that was the start of a beautiful friendship.

Our first date was at the Royal Museums in Greenwich, an area consisting of multiple museums, galleries, a cathedral, and British history – something I had discovered we were both highly interested in. We ended the beautiful date on a boat ride across the River Thames, and from that day onwards, I knew I would travel the world with Stephanie (we have been doing a stellar job so far!) I am so blessed to have found a soulmate and partner in life. Our court wedding was a beautiful full circle moment, as it took place across from where we had our first date. Cheers to FOREVER!

‘Hello’ and ‘Hi’ could have been the end of a meeting, but ours wasn’t so. Damaris and I began our journey amidst our busy university days back in 2013. Initially brought together by our shared fellowship, our conversations were casual exchanges in passing. Curiosity led me to discover her name, and soon after, I sent her a friend request on Facebook. Though, our conversations were sporadic, they had a delightful rhythm, hinting at something special. I even playfully inquired about her relationship status, only to find out she was taken at the time—but a guy can dream, right?

As our days in university drew to a close, something shifted. Each interaction carried new weight and meaning. In the final stretch of our time at university, amidst choir practice and campus hangouts, we discovered a harmony that transcended friendship. With graduation looming, I finally asked Damaris to join me in stepping beyond the melodies of our university days into a future where our connection would continue to grow. After university, our friendship deepened into a bond that defied distance.

Despite long-distance challenges and personal growth, we knew early on that our futures were intertwined. We navigated life’s twists and turns together, supporting each other while pursuing our individual paths and strengthening our connection. Determined to build a future together, we shared our dreams with our families, made proper introductions, and embarked on this journey hand in hand. We are very excited for what the future holds.

How we met

We attended the same university and met for the first time in 2014. I was with a male friend at a photoshoot on a Saturday afternoon in my faculty and he tapped my arm and told me to look at the “Fresh”, Tall, good-looking model. I’ll never forget that I thought he was the most good-looking man I had ever seen. He was in his final year and I was in my first. In 2016, we went on our first date at my favourite ice cream place and I was so smitten lol, but I was about to get into my final year and I wasn’t ready for a committed relationship.

Fast forward to 2019/2020, we and a few other guys that went to uni together became much closer and started spending more time together and I was like one of the boys, but in all of these, it was clear that something was still there, even our friends teased about it. It just wasn’t the right timing and we were never in the same headspace. In December 2020, I moved to the island and was staying down the road from the boys so I saw them ever so often. Finally, in June 2021, he asked if he could take me on a date (I remember being super giddy about this and not being able to sleep for days) and we started this relationship properly then, and it has been amazing.

It goes down in the DMs.  We were both were into fitness and followed each other on instagram (cliche, we know lol). He added me to his “close friends”, which got my attention. I decided to message him to hang out as friends because we had common interests. Sam agreed and it had felt like they had known each other for ages. After that first hangout, we hung out every day. After some time, we realized that maybe there was chemistry there.

Sam made it out of the friend zone! We decided that we should go ahead and try dating (getting to know each other romantically). Months later, we fell in love and grew in Christ together. I supported Sam at his lowest while growing his gym brand into what it is today, and Sam supported me during my lowest in nursing school into me now being a full BSN RN. Now we are both enjoying the fruits of our labor. Cheers to love!

We met on Muzzmatch, and it truly was love at first swipe.  He wasn’t in Nigeria, and I was in the whirlwind of law school, but despite the distance, our connection was instant and undeniable. We spent countless hours talking, video calling, and creating something deeply meaningful from miles apart. Ademola’s support wasn’t just in words—it was in every action. He became my pillar during one of the most challenging times of my life. Whether it was sending daily meals to my campus or offering emotional and moral support, he found ways to make life easier for me while I navigated the demands of law school. His care and love were always present, even from afar.  After my final exams, Ademola traveled to Nigeria so we could finally meet in person.

The moment we saw each other, it felt like time stopped—we knew instantly that we were destined to spend our lives together.  He stood by my side during my Call to Bar ceremony, witnessing that proud moment as I took the next step in my career. And just a week later, in the most beautiful and heartfelt way, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. Ademola is not just my partner; he’s my biggest cheerleader, my confidant, and the kindest soul I’ve ever known. Our love story began with a simple swipe, but it has blossomed into something extraordinary—an unbreakable bond built on love, trust, and unwavering support.

I knew Mark from afar when I was in school, he was a mere acquaintance. I do not remember ever conversing with him until October 2021 at my friend’s wedding where we were randomly picked and teamed up to play a game and dance, thanks to the MC. We had a short conversation on the dance floor and I remember wishing that the floor opened up to swallow me. I was very shy and too focused on getting the game over with so I could return to my seat and get out of people’s gazes.

We exchanged contacts after the game but didn’t speak until 11th April 2022 when he slid into my DM. Our conversations were very natural, interesting, multidimensional, edifying and safe that I looked forward to the end of each day to bare myself with him. Our story started and I’m grateful to God every day for giving me the gift of Mark and I look forward to more interesting conversations, hearty laughter, healthy bants, sweet hugs and loving him forever.

For three years, Seun and I ran in the same friendship circles in South Africa. He was completing his Master’s degree while I was in my Honors year. We attended the same gatherings and hung out with the same people, only exchanging ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’. At the end of the school year, I stayed at a mutual friend’s house while waiting for my flight to Nigeria. Coincidentally, Seun had missed his flight home around the same time and came to this friend’s place complaining. Since it was just us with nothing else to do, we started talking. I noticed his kindness, ambition, and patience. There was something about how he spoke and how his mind worked – I loved it.

As we talked more, we realized we had a lot in common. In that conversation, I started to see Seun in a different light and wondered why it had taken me so long to notice him. That’s when my crush started. Soon after, we exchanged numbers and texted everyday. The more we talked, the more we realized there was something deeper between us. Seun was straightforward and sincere, letting me know he wasn’t interested in playing games and was ready for a serious commitment. Since then, we’ve been inseparable, growing together and cherishing every moment.

I remember the first time I saw her. It was that trip to Ibadan with my friend, where we visited his family. She was standing there in front of those birds, radiating a quiet beauty that caught my attention immediately. That evening, we all played charades, and somehow, amidst all the laughter and guessing, something clicked between us. From that moment on, we started to grow closer, and what began as a simple game turned into a journey I never could have imagined. She always had a way of making the ordinary extraordinary.

I think back to a poem I wrote for her on the 22nd of August, 2024: “It is here, It is here, our love story Told in eternity, crafted in time. You, mine, me, yours Mingled into one, designed by God. It is here, Our vine, intertwined, Reaching for the clouds, a red table set before us. It is here, Nowhere else I’d rather be But here, right here, with you.” These words have never been truer. Our love story is one that was written long before we ever knew it, and each day we continue to discover new chapters of this journey we share.

As believers, we know that marriage, much like baptism, is a declaration. Just as baptism symbolizes new life in Christ, marriage proclaims the beautiful truth of Christ’s return for His bride. So, when we stood before our friends and family and said, “I do,” we weren’t just committing to each other; we were proclaiming a far deeper truth. Our love, our union, is a reflection of the love Christ has for His church, and our marriage is a living testimony of the coming of our Savior.
